Saturday, 4th August SLINFOLD II v ANSTY II Sussex Invitation 2nd League Division Two (at Lyons Road) Toss: Won by Ansty II Ansty colt Chris Barnes scored his second successive league half-century at Slinfold as Ansty II scored 211 for 6 in their allotted overs. Barnes’ 52 included 10 fours as he featured in a opening stand with James Abbott of 79. Abbott went on to score his maiden league half-century with 56 (7 fours), whilst Euan Menzies (33) and Alex Pearce (24no) ensured Ansty reached maximum batting points. In the reply, the home side were led by Luke Dealhoy, whose unbeaten 82 (11 fours 1 six) led his side to a 6-wicket win with six overs to spare. Martin Vanstone (30) helped put on 77 for the fourth wicket after opener Dave Wilding had hit 29. Fourteen-year-old Jethro Menzies was the pick of Ansty’s attack with 1 for 16 off his allowed five overs.
