After a delayed start, Ansty chose to bat on a drying wicket and it looked a good choice as they reached 47 for 1 in the 12th over with David Croydon (21) and Darren Senadhira (15) looking in charge, but Billingshurst’s Andy Welfare (3 for 40) and Kelly Russell (2 for 55) reduced Ansty to 51 for 5 in just 9 balls. A partnership of 50 between Ross Chisholm (9) and Simon Parsons (40) helped Ansty recover and an unbeaten 38 for the ninth wicket by Neil Machin (31no) and Barry Crouch (16no) helped the home side reach 160 for 8 off their allotted 42 overs. Tim Dodd took three late wickets for the visitors. In the reply, Ansty shocked Billingshurst with two wickets in two balls to leave them on 1 for 2. John Burroughs led the recovery, but Simon Parsons (4 for 47) had the reply on 54 for 4 when Peter Burroughs joined his brother to help forge a fifth wicket partnership of 101 to lead the visitors towards a 5-wicket victory with just three balls remaining. John Burroughs fell having made 95 (13 fours) and brother Peter reached an unbeaten 51 with the winning boundary.
