MIDDLETON v ANSTY
Sussex Invitation League Division One
(at Middleton Sports Club, Sea Lane)

Toss: Middleton

League leaders Middleton maintained their march towards the title with an easy victory over lowly Ansty by 7 wickets. Ansty were put in and looked good at 51 for 1 before they lost opener Leo Anderson to illness. Wickets then tumbled regularly and they were dismissed for 168. Richard Nichols top scored on a rare outing for the club with 33, with the in-form Simon Parsons making 32. Anderson recovered to return to the fray, but fell for 28. Openers Bruce Scott (53) and Jack Lerwill (76) hit an opening stand of 78 in just over 14 overs and Stuart Nelmes (30) helped Lerwill add another 82 for the second wicket. Both openers fell to catches in the deep by Paul Osborn, but had done enough to secure victory.
