ANSTY v BROADWATER
Sussex Invitation League Division One
(at " The Poplars" )
Toss: Won by Ansty
Broadwater won their first game since the opening day of the season in a high-scoring game on a wonderful batting track at Ansty. The home side batted first and sportingly declared after 43.1 overs on 235 for 6 with Rajkumar Pakkianathan hitting 90 (16 fours 2 sixes) and Simon Parsons making 62 (7 fours 3 sixes) figuring in a fourth wicket partnership of 131. Earlier David Croydon had hit 36, whilst Broadwater’s success with the ball came through Gareth Bunday (4 for 79). The declaration allowed the visitors 50 overs to reach 236, which they managed with just two balls of the match remaining. Skipper Mark Sinsbury led the way with 110 (20 fours), figuring in a partnership with Richard Luker (48) of 106 for the third wicket. Simon Parsons (4 for 48) came back for a second spell and offered Ansty some hope with 4 for 12, but Broadwater scrambled home in the final over to win by three wickets.
