Saturday, 1st September ANSTY v CRAWLEY Sussex Invitation League Division One (at " The Poplars" ) Toss: Won by Crawley Ansty finished their season with an emphatic 67-run victory in their basement battle with Crawley which saw the hosts climb four places to mid-table. Ansty were put in and scored 201 for 8 before declaring on 45 overs. Aftab Khan was Crawley’s most effective bowler taking 5 for 49. Openers Leo Anderson (25) and Paul Osborn put on 60 for the first wicket, before Jamie Newsome (24) and Simon Parsons (41) put on a further 54 for the fifth wicket. An unbeaten 21 by an injured Glenn Anson helped Ansty reach maximum batting points. In reply, Pakash Podnaratinum threatened with a quickfire 29 off just 16 balls, but Barry Crouch (2 for 45) and Parsons (4 for 46) broke through the early batsmen leaving Shaun Janman (2 for 8) and Neil Machin (2 for 20) to complete the victory.
