Ansty Cricket Club opened their new season with a 106-run victory over their hosts Streat & Westmeston. Ansty scored 167 for 8 which was a vast improvement after Mark Hartfield (4 for 33) took a " hat-trick" to leave them on 34 for 3. Euan Menzies (19) and Henry Fowler (25) put on a useful 48 for the sixth wicket and Andy Hadfield (45) and colt Rory Dormer (16no) added 63 for the eighth wicket. In reply, Simon Parsons took two wickets in his first over to leave Streat reeling on 0 for 2. Wickets fell regularly thereafter with Parsons taking 3 for 15, Fowler grabbing 3 for 12 and Shaun Janman (2 for 0) mopping up the tail. Roger Spurr top scored with 16 as Streat finished on 61 all out.
