Sunday, 17th June ANSTY v EASTBOURNE 40-over Friendly (at " The Poplars" ) Ansty defeated their near neighbours Cuckfield by 87 runs on Sunday. The visitors won the toss and batted, making 223 for 9 at tea. Young James Wright top scored with an unbeaten 43. Earlier Dan Belfort (25) and Julius Kiruba (37) made useful scores, but Ansty were struggling on 120 for 8 before skipper Neil Machin (26) joined Wright to put on 64 for the ninth wicket and Shaun Janman added an unbeaten 20 at number eleven. Leefe was Cuckfield’s most successful bowler with 3 for 35. In reply, Chris Barnes (2 for 29) removed both openers to leave the hosts on 6 for 2. Leefe (19), Wisdom (37) and Harris (32) staged a recovery, but Jonathan Young (3 for 37) and Shaun Janman (4 for 10) ripped through the remaining order to dismiss Cuckfield for 136.
