Thursday 24th May 2007 Toss won by Palmers Having been asked to field first Ansty rested their front line bowlers after their heroics in the previous day s cup match. However they weren t needed as tight bowling restricted the visitors to 65 off their 16 overs. Pick of the bowlers was Adam Nichols with 3-16 well supported by Rob Starr (1-7) and Andy Jess who both bowled tidily at the end of the innings. Alex Cornwell held Palmers innings together with a solid 28 retired. Despite the loss of three cheap wickets Ansty were in control thanks to James Wright who rode his luck to score an unbeaten 27. With four runs needed to win the fourth wicket went down as Jonny Crickmore (16) was bowled attempting to win the match with a big hit. What then followed was a comedy of errors as five more wickets fell for three runs as each incoming batsman tried to score the winning runs. Eventually Sam Crocker turned a full toss down to fine leg to give the home team a win by just one wicket. PALMERS
