Thursday 17th May 2007 Lewes St Michaels v Ansty U16 SAYCL League (at Lewes) Toss won by Lewes St Michaels Ansty could be accused of having not taken this game seriously enough. Asked to field first the bowling order was mixed up and the usual strike bowlers rested. On a very small pitch a big total was always likely and the home team did indeed accumulate 140 for 7 in their 16 overs. Both Whiting (27) and Oliver (35) retired with the latter taking the Ansty spinners to task in hitting four sixes. Only when captain Jonathan Young (3-14) brought himself on was some control exerted. In reply James Wright (13) and Jonathan Crickmore (27) started confidently enough, ably supported later on by Rory Dormer (28), Jack Harvey (19) and Ben Reeve (21). However wickets kept falling and the run rate was just too much as the visitors eventually fell six runs short.
