The final match of the SAYCL season saw Ansty needing a win to secure the league title. Batting first openers Ali Chisholm (16) and Tom Coombs (18) scored quickly although boundaries did not come easily due to the very damp outfield. Alex Borley (11), Jethro Menzies (26 ret) and Will Bennett (22no) took a more aerial route as the runs flowed freely including big sixes from the latter two batsmen. Sophie Cawley (9no) then played a typical cameo innings of guiding the ball into gaps and running quickly to leave the visitors chasing a formidable 147 to win. Burgess Hill Saints were initially contained by the accurate bowling of James Pearce (1-13) and Hannah Phelps (0-12) before being devastated by a superb spell of bowling by Jonny Lea (4-11). Hancock (18) showed solid resistance before falling to an excellent catch by Pearce off Lea. Bennett (2-2) must wait until his next match for his hat trick opportunity as he and Menzies finished off the tail to give the home side a 92 run win and the league title.
