Toss won by Lewes Priory
Put into bat on a typically sticky Staplefield wicket Ansty knew that they had to be wary of variable bounce and that 70 was likely to be a reasonable score. After the loss of a couple of quick wickets the home side then wobbled again at 44 for 5, after 10 overs, due to a good spell of bowling by Jack Nichols-Marcy, but a strong innings by Alex Borley (25 retired) and sensible batting by Ali Chisholm (12) and Sophie Cawley (16) ensured a good total. Some fine running by Max Treharne (6 not out) at the end almost brought up the ton but in the end 98 for 7 looked like a formidable score to chase. Captain William Bennett took a no nonsense approach in the field and instructed his pace bowlers to bowl wicket to wicket and let the pitch do the rest. This they did admirably with James Pearce (4-10) and Chisholm (3-7) getting all their wickets either clean bowled or lbw. Cawley (3-5) then wrapped up the tail with two more clean bowled. Lewes Priory were bowled out for 31, with eight of their batsmen failing to trouble the scorers, giving Ansty a win by 67 runs.
