Tuesday 8th May 2007 St Matthias v Ansty U14 SAYCL League (at Braypool) Toss: Won by St Matthias Had Ansty decided to both bowl straight and play defensive shots when the St Matthias opposition did just that, then they could have won this match quite easily. Choosing to bat first St Matthias accumulated 74 for the loss of 6 wickets in their 16 overs of which 36 were gifted in the form of wides, no balls and byes. Opening the batting Victor Yates grafted away for his 10 not out whilst the crafty spin of Tom Coombs (4-18), supported by Will Sayers (2-6), saw off the middle order. In reply Sophie Cawley (13) looked solid whilst wickets fell at the other end to the accurate medium pace of Wedge Bull (3-7). When she fell with the score at 35-4 Jack Palser (22 not out) joined Harry Bannister (15) and together this pair put on 37 to lead the team to victory by 5 wickets with an over remaining.
