Toss: Won by Ansty
Having won the toss Ansty had no hesitation in choosing to bat first on a warm, if rather windy, May evening. An uncertain start saw the home side stutter to 32 for 4 after half of their allocated 16 overs. A strong partnership between captain Alex Borley and William Bennett (both 25 retired) resulted in a strong recovery and a final score of 102 for 6. Nomads made a solid reply with openers Josh Levine (11) and Dan Anderson (8) putting on 19 for the first wicket in the first three overs. The second ball of the fourth over, bowled by Jethro Menzies, saw Levine top edge a ball high into the sky which keeper Jonathan Crickmore took after a 30 yard sprint to reach the ball. Deja vu next ball as Anderson (the batsmen had had plenty of time to cross) played the same shot giving Crickmore a 40 yard sprint this time to take a tumbling catch. The incoming batsmen failed to get a similar edge but was clean bowled giving Menzies a well-deserved hat trick. Two balls later the stumps were hit again to complete a quadruple wicket maiden. Alex Boden, Lewes Thompson, Tom Coombs and Sophie Cawley then picked up a wicket apiece as Ansty cruised to a 49 run victory.
