Ansty v Portslade
U13 SAYCL League
(At Ansty)
Toss won by Ansty
Ansty won the toss & chose to field first. Ansty got off to a good start forcing an early run out but then the Portslade batsmen settled down & batted strongly with Nicholson retiring (26). Ansty knew they would have to field well but dropped a number of catches early on. However Ansty captain James Whybrow kept his head & varied his bowling attack using 7 bowlers in total & soon the Ansty players regained their confidence & started making catches. Ed Coombs taking a superb diving catch. Ed Coombs also took 2 wickets as did Sam Hall with James Whybrow taking the final Portslade wicket giving Ansty a total of to chase. James Whybrow continued the team ethos & ensured those players who hadn’t bowled batted high in the order. Ansty lost a couple of early wickets but Sam Palser came in & calmed things down for Ansty. All the batsmen contributed to the score & slowly Ansty edged closer to their target with Matt Davy (19) & Zameer Mohamed (21 n.o) forming a strong partnership. The Portslade bowlers began to feel the pressure & made a number of unforced errors which Ansty took full advantage of & eventually won the match in the final over. A great team effort from all.
