Ardingly v Ansty
U12 North & Mid Sussex League
(at Ardingly)
Toss: Won by Ansty
This was Ansty’s first North & Mid Sussex League match of the season and once again they won the toss, Will Howes with the correct call. He had no hesitation in batting and for the duration of the innings the Ansty batsmen made hay in the evening sun. Openers Howes with 25 and James Whybrow with 26, both had to retire and then Matt Davey (15 not out) and Sam Hall (9 not out) continued the onslaught reaching 106 without losing a wicket. None of the Ardingly bowlers will wish to reflect for long on their figures but Moorey was the most accurate, conceding only 9 in his four overs.
Ardingly were always struggling to maintain the required rate and lost wickets at regular intervals. Five bowlers all took one wicket and only Sam Hall conceded more than 10 runs. Conversely, of the Ardingly batsmen, only Manger (13) managed double figures. Ansty were quick in the field and were rewarded with three run outs, Josh Turner, Sam Hall and Jack Erritt being the fielders. After the allotted 20 overs Ardingly had reached 70, some 36 runs short.
