Wisborough Green v Ansty

Toss: Won by Ansty
For the second match in a row Tom Hadfield won the toss. With the West Chiltington result fresh in his mind, this time he elected to bat but was once again let down by his team. After two deliveries Ansty were 0-2 and after 8 deliveries, 4-4. The two James’, Whybrow (12) and Chisholm (9) steadied the ship but when the latter was out with the score on 28, wickets once again continued to fall. Only Joseph Carey with 12 not out offered much resistance and in an unbeaten last wicket partnership with Sam Hall saw Ansty limp up to 56 after 20 overs. This total included 5 ducks, 3 of which were first ballers! All the home team bowlers took wickets in an excellent bowling and fielding performance.
Wisborough Green started positively and after 10 overs with the score on 46 for 3, were seemingly cruising to victory. Up stepped leg spinner Sam Hall and with excellent figures of 4 for 13 in his four overs put Ansty back in with a shout. Indeed, had in not been for opener Tim Weston, who eventually retired on 26, the result would have been different as the next best score for the home team batsmen was 5. However 56 was never going to be enough and Wisborough Green finally surpassed this total in the 17th over with two wickets to spare. Tom Hadfield with 4 overs 2-8 and James Whybrow 3 overs 1-12, along with Sam Hall, were the pick of the Ansty bowlers.
