Ansty arrived at picturesque Plaistow on a cloudy Sunday morning and were put into bat on a damp pitch. This looked to be a good decision when after 13 balls Ansty were 0-1. Alex Bennett then hit 22 from the next five deliveries and the tone of the innings was set. He was soon retired on 29 as was James Whybrow on 27. Other notable contributions came from Sam Hall (15), Fred Barker (11), Joe Carey (9) and a career best 24 not out from captain Tom Hadfield. The pick of the bowlers was Tom Rollinson with 2 for 12 in three overs but a formidable 138 for 5 had been set in the 20 overs allowed.~
Despite an opening stand of 21 from 3 overs Plaistow were always struggling to maintain the required rate. Opener Connor O’Brien scored 11 and Tom Harvey-Jones chipped in with 12 not out at the end. However the highlight of the innings was Ollie O’Shea who eventually retired on 26. Ansty used 10 bowlers, each being given two overs and the wicket takers were Alex Bennett with 2 for 4, James Chisholm 1 for 4, Jack Erritt 1 for 1, Sam Hall 1 for 4 and Tom Hadfield 1 for 7. Alex Bennett rounded off a Man of the Match performance with a run out and Plaistow finished on 90 for 7, 48 runs short of their target.
