U12 North & Mid Sussex League
Toss: Won by Ansty
Once again Ansty won the toss in this North and Mid Sussex League 20 over match, and decided to bat. Openers Will Howes (25) and James Whybrow (9) got them off to a good start but the remainder of the innings was built around a delightful career best 26 not out from Joe Carey which saw the home team reach 106 for 3. Ben Arnold (1 for 22) Calum Elliott (1 for 22) and Sam Hazelton were the wicket takers for Balcombe.
Ansty bowled tidily from the start and when the second wicket fell at 22 in the seventh over they looked to be well on top. The fall of this wicket brought Charlie Searle to the crease and he single handedly turned the game around for Balcombe, finishing on an excellent 48 not out (the other batsmen only managed 19 between them). Ansty briefly looked to be back in the match when James Chisholm took 3 for 7 in his 3 overs but the strong hitting of Searle, who took a particular liking to the leg spin of Sam Hall, proved to be the match winner, the margin being 4 wickets.
