Sunday 29th April 2007 Ansty U11 v Portslade  U11 U11 SAYCL (At Staplefield)  Ansty Under 11s started the new league season with a victory over Portslade at sunny Staplefield. Batting first, Ansty lost early wickets against an accurate opening attack, but settled down to reach a decent total of 282-7. Dan Gardner hit some crisp boundaries in his 14 not out, with Maxime Saxena’s 10 including an exquisite off-cut for four and Todd Haufek contributing some lusty blows at the end. Portslade started brightly with their opener thrashing a couple of big sixes, but the nagging accuracy of all the Ansty bowlers eventually pegged the visiting side back to a score of 208 for loss of 11 wickets. There were two wickets apiece for skipper William Wright, Gardner, Benedict Norden and Jim Minall, with one each for Liam Fitzpatrick, Tim Hollis and Chris Turner. Gardner also instigated a smart run out, while Haufek turned in a tidy display in his first outing behind the stumps. Ansty won by 74 runs.
