Burgess Hill Saints U-11 v Ansty U-11
U11 SAYL
(At Burgess Hill)
Ansty Under 11’s continued their successful start to their SAYL League season with a 17 run victory over Burgess Hill Saints. Having been inserted, Ansty made steady progress against a useful attack. Some clean blows by Chris Turner (10), Dylan Howell (11) were followed by powerful straight hitting from Todd Haufek (18), with Tim Hollis chipping in with 10 not out at the end. A score of 271-7 looked to be a competitive, although not insurmountable target, so the visitors knew they would have to bowl and field well. This they did, with Howell bagging three wickets, Bill Barker and Dan Gardner two each and Hollis one. Haufek took two catches, with Barker and Gardner getting one apiece, and Barker, Hollis and Jake Feltham all instigated run-outs. The home side finished on 254 for the loss of 11 wickets, and only some losses of concentration near the end when Ansty felt they had the game already won prevented a more comfortable victory.
Ansty won by 17 runs
