Henfield U11 v Ansty U11
U11 SAYCL
(At Henfield)
Ansty U11 continued their impressive start to the season at Henfield with a 96 run victory. Having won the toss, the home team batted sensibly and Ansty found wickets hard to come by on a pitch offering plenty of bounce. However, their accuracy soon began to pay dividends and Henfield struggled to increase the tempo. Late dismissals pegged them back to a score of 229-5, with two wickets for Ben Hewitt’s leg-spin and one each for Edward Coombs and Chris Turner. Hewitt also achieved a smart run-out, and there were catches for Megan Janman and keeper William Glenn. Ansty batted fluently from the start, with skipper Coombs unleashing some elegant drives in his 13 not out. The momentum was continued by Bill Barker (10 not out), Sam Palser with a typically belligerent 26 not out and Glenn (12 not out), and in the end Ansty were comfortable winners.
Ansty won by 74 runs.
