Saturday, 20th May ST ANDREWS BEARS v ANSTY III Stoner Mid-Sussex League Division 3 (at Berrylands, Sayers Common) Toss: Won by St Andrews Bears Ansty 3rd XI held out for a three wicket victory in a low-scoring encounter in treacherous winds at Berrylands, Sayers Common against St Andrews Bears. The home side elected to bat and were dismissed for 66 with David Lawrey top scoring with 12no. St Andrews were undone in a ten-over spell when Callum Brown (3 for 7) and Aiden Janman (3 for 6) ripped through the middle order. Ansty, fielding just two adults, started well, but an injury to wicket-keeper Leo Anderson, who had made 20no, signalled a middle order collapse as they fell from 32 for 1 to 47 for 6. Lawrey bowled unchanged to take 4 for 32 off 15 overs and Peter Collins put the brakes on with 2 for 9 off 11 overs. It was left to the two " veterans" , skipper Alan Piolet and Peter Fowles to see Ansty to victory.
