National Village Cup Sussex Group Semi-Final
(at Glynde Recreation Ground)

Ansty were knocked out of the National Village Cup in the Sussex Group Semi-Final at Glynde after losing a high scoring game by 122 runs. Dominic Shepheard, Glynde’s opener made a superb unbeaten 173 as his side posted a massive 321 for 2 off 40 overs. He featured in an opening stand of 102 with Joe Adams who made 58, before helping put on 173 for the second wicket with Dominic Harris, who struck 63. Shepheard’s innings included 6 sixes and 21 fours. Ansty skipper Tom Freeman took the two Glynde wickets to fall. In reply, Ansty started strongly, but three wickets for Mark Beddis had the visitors on 93 for 3 off 16 overs with their top run-scorer Richard Nichols dismissed for 34. Paul Osborn offered Ansty hope with a battling 59, but wickets fell regularly as Ansty dropped behind in the run chase. Dominic Harris helped himself to 4 for 45 as Ansty tried to force the pace and despite a dogged 33 from Andrew Mowforth, were finally dismissed for 199.
