Ansty progressed into the third round with a comfortable 9-wicket victory over Flimwell from the Kent/Sussex border. Ansty’s Neil Machin took 4 for 26 as Flimwell slumped to 35 for 6. Steve Barden (21) offered some support, but it was Anthony Downes (32) and young Callum Christie (13) who helped bring the final total to 108 all out in the 33rd over. Shaun Janman and Simon Parsons took two wickets apiece and skipper Tom Freeman, as acting wicket-keeper, helped himself to three dismissals. In reply, Darren Senadhira hit an unbeaten 75, which included three huge sixes and 8 fours to lead Ansty home after 26 overs. He received support from young opener James Thorpe, who hit an unbeaten 27.
