Ansty 3rd XI continued their recent good form with a comprehensive 64-run victory in the Sally Miller Trophy 2nd Round against Balcombe II from a Stoner League Division higher. Ansty batted first and their openers, both aged 14, put on 100 for the first wicket before Leo Anderson (27) was caught. His partner, James Thorpe, went on to score 79, a second successive half-century at this level, to lead his side towards 171 for 7 off their allotted 40 overs. Ken Mitchell and Richard Ohlson both took three wickets for Balcombe II. Mitchell scored 40 in reply, but smart work in the field, causing three run-outs, together with vice captain Alan Piolet's 3 for 16 off 8 overs led to Balcombe II ending on 107 all out. Fourteen-year-old Joseph Hallam took 2 for 30 in support.
