Ansty III gained their first League victory of the season with an 84-run success over Lingfield II at Whiteman's Green. Fourteen-year-old James Thorpe led from the front, scoring 57, supported by another 14-year-old Leo Anderson (20). Simon Finch weighed in with 27 and a third 14-year-old Joseph Hallam hit a brisk 44 off just 34 balls to lead Ansty III to a total of 195 all out, having been put in to bat. Andrew Daw was the visitors' most successful bowler with 4 for 65. Hallam (2 for 28) then had Lingfield in trouble at 21 for 2 with a devastating opening spell. Vice-captain Alan Piolet took 3 for 22 and Henry Fowler grabbed 2 for 18 as the visitors collapsed to 111 all out. Mike Rigge and Timothy Powell hit 21 apiece to offer Lingfield some hope.
