SJM FURY v ANSTY III

Toss: Won by SJM Fury
Having been put in by the SJM Fury skipper, Ansty 3rd XI recovered from the shock of losing two wickets in the first over when 14-year-old Alex Pearce reached the crease. The young wicketkeeper joined the action with Ansty on 0 for 2 and scored a sublime 47 which included ten sweetly-struck fours. He figured in a useful fourth wicket partnership of 89 with Simon Finch, who also scored 47, both personal bests for the youngsters in the Stoner League. Henry Fowler scored 27 to help Ansty reach a total of 171, which also included 33 " extras" . SJM Fury’ s opening bowler Carl Smith ended with 4 for 32. In reply, wickets fell at regular intervals with John Taylor junior top scoring with the bat with just 19, although " extras" made 32. All the Ansty bowlers chipped in with wickets with Aqeel Janjua (3 for 11) James Thorpe (2 for 11) and Alan Piolet (2 for 31) the most successful. Pearce crowned a good game with two smart stumpings for Ansty, and there were some fine catches held in the field.
