PAGHAM v ANSTY

Toss: Won by Pagham
Ansty had the better of their basement battle with Pagham, but the visitors had to settle for a draw for the second successive match having had their opponents nine wickets down. The home side had Ansty in trouble at 70 for 5 after an opening spell of quick bowling by Mike Hales. Dan Morgan (21) and David Croydon (31) had put on an opening stand of 47 before the middle-order collapse. Richard Nichols saved Ansty’ s blushes against the bottom side with an unbeaten 100 as he and his skipper Shaun Janman (31no) put on a club record unbroken eighth wicket stand of 94 to bring Ansty from 140 for 7 to 234 for 7 declared. Hales finished with figures of 4 for 64 for Pagham, who started cautiously in their reply. David Galea (34), Chris Hayden (33) and Graham Finlayson (30) offered Pagham hope, but two good spells by James Nutter (3 for 26) and two wickets apiece for Shaun Janman and Chris Nutter left Pagham hanging on at 152 for 9 at stumps.
