SCB LEAGUE: 25th June 2005
BURGESS HILL ST ANDREWS U-9 v
ANSTY U-9
Ansty lost their unbeaten record
in the SCB Under-9 League on Saturday at the hands of a very good
Burgess Hill St Andrews side. Batting first after captain William
Glenn won the toss, Ansty struggled to a total of 200 for the loss of
12 wickets. Although William Wright drove well for 10 not out and Ben
Hewitt hit 9, too many Ansty batsmen played loose shots against an
accurate attack. To their credit, the team kept their heads up and
went on to produce an excellent bowling and fielding display that
limited St Andrews to 263-3. Glenn, Daniel Gardner and Todd Haufek
each took a wicket, with Bill Barker and Edward Coombs snapping up
smart catches. But despite their efforts, it wasn’t enough to
prevent a defeat by 63 runs.
