Stoner Mid-Sussex League Division Three
Lingfield II v ANSTY III (at Godstone Road, 03/07/04)
Aqeel Janjua took personal best league figures of
5 for 53 for Ansty III at Lingfield, but the effort was still not
enough to avoid a sixth league defeat for his club. A useful
last wicket stand by Smith (35no) and Morton (17no) pushed the
Lingfield score to 192 for 9. earlier Mitchell had made 39,
whilst colt Ben Coombs took 2 for 33 for Ansty. In reply, two
run-outs featured in Ansty losing their first four batsmen for just
6, but a useful partnership by Sam Goldsmith (30) and Janjua (24)
gave Ansty hope. However Daw (4 for 25) came back to clinch a
60-run victory for the home side despite a batting 23 from
14-year-old Aiden Janman and an unbeaten 20 by Alan Piolet, who put
on 52 for Ansty's ninth wicket.
