ANSTY II v Crawley II (at "The Poplars", 14/08/04)
Ansty II returned to winning ways after four successive draws with a 37-run victory at home to Crawley II. Ansty had made 161 which was largely due to a superb 84 by Richard Pike when wickets was falling all around him early on. The home side were 31 for 4 after Rashid Kazmi (3 for 14) had ripped through the early order. Ansty's Pike and Tom Freeman (36) staged a revival scorng 87 runs for the sixth wicket, but Riaz Khan disposed of the lower order taking 4 for 31. In reply, Crawley found themselves in equal trouble at 48 for 6 after a devastating opening spell by skipper Andy Mott. Ifty Khan (45) and Akehurst (26) staged a revival, but Ansty dismissed the visitors for 124. Mott finished with 5 for 23 and Rob Littlejohns took 2 for 18 to add to a direct throw run-out and two smart catches.
