ANSTY v Henfield (at " The Poplars" , Ansty, 29/05/04)
Toss: Henfield
Ansty were put into bat and struggled against a very tight bowling attack from Henfield. Openers Chris Nutter and Jared Rowe put on 52 for the first wicket before Rowe fell for 23. Nutter went on to score 42 before becoming on of Tim Parsons' four victims. Ansty skipper Richard Nichols, still nursing a bad back, scored 43, but the rest of his team fell away as the home side finished on 143 for 8 after 49 overs. Parsons took 4 for 52 for Henfield. After tea, excellent bowling and fielding by Ansty restricted the Henfield progress. Two wickets apiece by Simon Parsons and Shaun Janman had the visitors on 36 for 4 after 20 overs. Kevin Thorns (30) offered Henfield hope, needing 79 when the last 20 overs started. However, Janman continued to peg back the reply as Henfield had to settle for a draw on 121 for 8 with skipper Graham Fuller making 24. Shaun Janman finished with 5 for 52 off 22 overs.
