ANSTY v Keymer & Hassocks (at " The Poplars" , 24/07/04)

Ansty denied league leaders Keymer & Hassocks a win in a thrilling encounter at " The Poplars" . The home side notched up 210 for 9 in 49 overs with David Croydon top scoring with 58. He was well supported by Chris Nutter (26) as they put on 58 for the second wicket after the shock of losing skipper Richard Nichols cheaply. Darren Senadhira then hit 55 in a third wicket partnership worth 78 with Croydon. Simon Parsons (19) and Alex Janjua (15) hit little cameo knocks despite Adrian Tatford (3 for 38) and Stuart Faith (3 for 64) giving Keymer hope. In reply, on a batting wicket, the target looked possible for Keymer, but tight bowling by all of Ansty's five bowlers kept the match alive. Hassocks' skipper John Price hit a superb 87no and with Jamie Tatford (41no) put on 91 for the fifth wicket to give the visitors hope, but a draw was most likely as Keymer finished on 202 for 4.
