ANSTY v Crawley Eagles (at " The Poplars" , 21/08/04)
Toss: Won by Crawley Eagles
Ansty went to the top of the table with one match remaining despite a home loss to Crawley Eagles. Other results went their way with leaders Keymer & Hassocks and Scaynes Hill both drawing. Ansty were put in on a wet track, but did well to accumulate 188 for 7 off 49 overs. Both openers Richard Nichols and David Croydon made 33 each and Paul Osborn hit 41. In reply, some excellent fielding and bowling put Eagles on the back foot. Two run-outs, a stunning catch by Shaun Janman and a spell of 3 for 41 off 13 overs by Simon Parsons had the visitors on 79 for 6, but Faisal and Ali put on 48 for the next wicket with the latter making 25, then Aamer Riaz joined Faisal to lead Eagles home with an unbroken partnership of 64 with just 5 balls to spare. Faisal hit 47no and Riaz scored 36no. Ansty can clinch the championship with victory at third-placed Billingshurst next week.
