Sussex Invitation League Scaynes Hill v ANSTY (at Scaynes Hill, 17/07/04) Toss: Scaynes Hill Ansty became within a whisker of an unlikely victory at Scaynes Hill after an eighth wicket stand of 67 brought them to just 15 off the target, but two quick wickets resigned the match to a draw.  Hill, batting first having won the toss, recovered from a slow start to post 224 for 5 declared with Sam Jeremiah celebrating a birthday with a superb knock of 67, supported by opener Paul Edwards, who notched a steady 70 in 2 hours 39 minutes.  Cameo roles from Paul Elphick (28) and Lee Pelling (26no) were useful, despite two wickets apiece from Ansty's Simon Parsons and Barry Crouch.  In reply, Richard Nichols scored a swift half-century and Chris Nutter made a defiant 31, but after a flurry of wickets, Ansty looked out of it until Paul Osborn (62) and Shaun Janman (23) put on that superb partnership.
