Ansty recorded their third victory of the season with just 11 balls remaining to give themselves hope of promotion to Division One. Barns Green elected to bat and skipper Phil Awcock led from the front with a battling 60 in posting 193 for 9. Ansty’s leading wicket-taker Simon Parsons had most success with the ball, taking 4 for 52. In reply, Phil Awcock then led the attack with the ball and Ansty found themselves 11 for 2 after just 4 overs. David Croydon (30) and Darren Senadhira (36) put on 64 for the third wicket, then Paul Osborn (32) and Parsons (23) kept Ansty in the hunt despite Awcock’s continuous wicket-taking. Shaun Janman (22no) and Barry Crouch (18no) clinched the three-wicket victory despite Awcock’s 6 for 54.
