Sunday, 30th May - HORSHAM TRINITY v ANSTY
(U16 Identilam League at Horsham Trinity)
Ansty lost the toss and were asked to field first. Throughout last season chasing runs had been difficult. Ansty’s bowling attack took on the challenge and delivered a spectacular performance.
James Nutter (2-1-3-2), Daniel Belfort (2-0-1-2) and Jimmy Di Bella (1-0-2-2) were the three key bowlers who put Ansty on a winning path by taking 2 wickets apiece. Sam Goldsmith with his ‘lightening’ responses engineered a stumping, Alex Janjua took 2 catches and Steffan Piolet & Mihir Desai added further to a good performance in the field by chipping in with a catch each. Alex Janjua (2-0-10-1), Tom Freeman (2-1-2-1), Ben Coombs (2-1-8-1) and Simon Finch (0.3-0-0-1) finished an excellent day’s work by taking a wicket each.
As a result of this ‘high class’ bowling performance Horsham Trinity struggled to score runs and ended their innings with 33 all out at the end of 12 overs.
Llewelyn Boshoff (10) and Jimmy Di Bella (9*) opened Ansty’s innings. Mihir Desai (4*), with his first boundary of the season, hit the winning runs. Ansty were 36 for 1 at the end of 6 overs. A decisive victory even though we batted second and it is a big improvement on our previous seasons’ run chases.
